Take Lead
Founded a 4-week summer program to empower Black youth to take charge of the issues impacting their community focusing specifically on Environmental Justice, Health Disparities, Education Equity, and Mental Health Awareness. Coordinated student research projects on these issues and published student solutions to the problems via community service efforts. Developed a comprehensive weekly curriculum, organized panel discussions with industry specific professionals, structured relevant homework assignments, and designed www.takeleadimpact.org website to showcase student project portfolios and community service solutions.
Black Women in Stem - Website
For my Senior Design Project, I created a fully accessible, front-facing website highlighting the contributions of Black women in STEM. The site was designed to educate, inspire, and amplify the stories of trailblazing figures who have historically been overlooked in science and technology fields.
Key features include:
Profiles of Influential Figures: Each profile includes a biography, career highlights, and multimedia content such as photos and videos with closed captions.
Accessibility-First Design: The website includes alt text for all images, keyboard navigation support, and text-to-speech functionality to ensure usability for all users, including those with disabilities.
Interactive JavaScript Elements: I used JavaScript to add dynamic content and improve user interaction, while maintaining a clean, user-friendly interface through thoughtful HTML and CSS design.
This project reflects my passion for human-centered technology and my commitment to creating inclusive digital spaces that celebrate diversity in tech.
Adobe After Effects – Software Development Engineer Intern (Summer 2024)
During my internship on the After Effects team at Adobe, I contributed to the development and refinement of the “Crop Layers to Composition” feature, which streamlines the user workflow by automatically resizing selected layers to match the composition dimensions.
My contributions included:
Implementing the Cropping Logic: I worked on the logic that adjusts the layer boundaries to fit exactly within the composition dimensions, preserving spatial relationships and preventing unwanted cropping of visual elements.
Edge Case Handling: I addressed edge cases such as non-uniform scaling, 3D layers, and nested compositions, ensuring the feature functioned reliably across diverse layer types and scenarios.
UI Integration and Testing: I assisted in integrating the feature into the After Effects interface and conducted thorough testing to ensure a seamless user experience.
This project gave me hands-on experience with Adobe’s production-level codebase, agile workflows (daily standups and weekly engineering meetings), and the opportunity to contribute to a real feature showcased in a product demo.
